Tips
11/3/10 If the paddle of your King Coal
or Flame King stoker is wearing a
hole in the burner base, your auger needs a stop welded on it.
This problem is caused by the squared area of the auger going too far
down towards the coal bin. This allows the paddle to grind on the
burner base. There are two possibilities that might cause this;
first is the auger just wasn't built right to start with. The
second is the auger is has slid for some reason (for example the auger
tube slid; or the far end of the auger is wearing out; or the auger end
bracket has come unbolted--even partly). If the auger has moved
the reason should be investigated and the cause fixed, for not only
will the paddle wear into the burner base, but the auger will have less
material for the paddle to bite on, and as a result the end of the
auger will wear out faster. If the far end of the auger has worn
down, you can weld (or we can, if you want to bring your auger in to
us) a piece of 1" diameter rod (the length that it is short) onto the
far end of the auger. This will push the auger back out to where
it should be.
